Displaying Query Results

  1. When you finish running most queries, the query results are displayed as a spreadsheet table within Query Manager. You can also access any query that you have created in the current Query Manager session, provided you have not switched watersheds.  To work with a query other than the most recent, select the query from the Browse menu in Query Manager. The query tables have a name reflecting the type of query and a numbered sequence showing the order of creation.  Display the query results in MARPLOT:

    a) Select MARPLOT (CTRL+A) > Show All on Map to show the full set of records in your query result.

    b) Alternatively, select a subset of records in the Query Manager data table, and select MARPLOT > Show Selected on Map (CTRL+S) to see only those records on the MARPLOT map.

  2. The MARPLOT mapping program will open. (The first use of MARPLOT will display a white splash screen identifying the creators and version number of MARPLOT. Click OK at the bottom of the screen.)

  3. MARPLOT will then display the data records that you have selected from the query results. (If the dataset is a large set of records, there may be a pause before the data are visible.)

Notes:

  • Samples with zero latitude and/or longitude may be included or excluded from the query by selecting either Tools > Exclude Zero Lat/Longs or Include Zero Lat/Longs.  Query Manager excludes records with zero latitude/longitude coordinates by default.
  • Data points from Query Manager may not be visible if the scale of the map is set to a low setting. See User Tips for more information.
  • If there are many maps in the dataset, select MARPLOT > Build Map Index. This command will open MARPLOT and create an index of maps to be loaded. Return to Query Manger and select one of the MARPLOT > Show... options.
