ARD Query Manager & MARPLOT Tools

CPRD Toolbox

Image of ARD Tool BoxThe CPRD GIS Tools are a collection of GIS tools created for ArcView 3.X assist development and analysis of spatial data. Some tools are specialized for use with data and functions within CPRD products and Query Manager output; however, most of the tools can be used with any GIS data.

CPRD GIS Tools is an extension that requires you to have ArcView 3.X. The CPRD Tools extension must be placed in the directory:

"$AVHOME/EXT32"

It is then turned on from ArcView's File > Extensions drop-down menu.

Once the extension is turned on, the toolbox and all the other tools can be opened via the CPRD Tools drop-down menu in ArcView.

Feature Labeling

Feature Label ButtonFeature Labeling provides increased functionality for labeling features (e.g. sample points, station locations) combining data from multiple fields and text. Multiple points (same XY location) can be labeled simultaneously with data and text from the respective points appearing in rows. The Sort function allows you to reorder the label rows in an ascending or descending order based on the values for a chosen sort field.

Add X and Y Fields

Add X and Y Fields ButtonFields named "X" and "Y" are added to the selected themes, and coordinates are calculated and added for each selected record. This tool works on point themes, line themes and polygon themes. The X and Y coordinates for line and polygon themes are calculated on the centroid of the shape.

Set Current Working Directory

Set Current Working Directory ButtonThis tool allows you to navigate to the current working directory using a File Dialog. The chosen folder becomes the new current working directory. This serves the same function as typing in the working directory path. Setting the working directory may be helpful when temporary data sets (grids, shapefiles) are created.

Toggle Legend On/Off

Toggle Legend On/Off ButtonThis ESRI script changes the theme legend appearance in the Table of Contents between "On" and "Off." This script condenses themes whose legend is very large so that multiple themes are visible in the TOC.

Apply Query Manager Legend

Apply Query Manager Legend ButtonThis applies the Query Manager Legend to contaminant, tissue chemistry or bioassay queries. The advantage of this legend is that it represents the data based on screening levels or user-specified breakpoints.

Arrange Themes

Arrange Themes ButtonThe Arrange Themes algorithm is based on code by Robert J. Scheitlin. This tool arranges themes' display order in a View for ease of use. Themes are shuffled based on features. Point themes are placed at the top of the TOC, line themes are next, then polygon themes, followed by images. Grid Themes are not organized by this tool.

Set Themes Active

Set Themes Active ButtonThis simple algorithm allows you to select the themes to set active (raised) from a drop-down list. This can be useful for performing a function on several selected themes in a view. The default for this tool (if no themes are selected) is to select all the themes present in a View.

U.S. EPA FIELDS Extensions On/Off

FIELDS ButtonThis tool allows you to access the U.S. EPA FIELDS extensions and turn them On or Off with one click. The default for this tool (no extensions selected, click OK) is to turn on all of the FIELDS Tools. The FIELDS Tools are a collection of GIS Sampling Design, Database, Interpolation and Analysis tools developed by the EPA and other agencies.
